Meet Mario Avery

Mario Avery’s leadership journey began not with political ambition, but with conviction. As a concerned resident of Fairburn, Georgia, he first stepped into public service to oppose a proposed landfill that threatened the community’s quality of life — and his advocacy helped stop it. Encouraged by residents to continue serving, he was elected to two terms on City Council and later served three terms as Mayor, leading Fairburn through a historic season of growth. During his tenure, the City’s population more than tripled, over 50 new businesses — including major employers — established operations, and median household income rose from $35,000 to $90,000. Home values have more than doubled since 2010, reflecting increased market confidence, strengthened neighborhoods, and long-term economic vitality. Through disciplined leadership, strategic economic development, and intentional planning, Mario strengthened the tax base, elevated property values, and positioned Fairburn for sustained prosperity.

A defining element of his leadership was his ability to cultivate productive partnerships at every level of government. Through strong relationships with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and regional leaders, he helped foster collaboration that advanced the Highway 74 and I-85 Bridge Replacement Project — a critical infrastructure investment supporting safety, mobility, and economic growth. He also founded the Fairburn Festival, growing it from 2,000 attendees to more than 40,000, generating significant economic activity and regional visibility. Today, through Avery Consulting Services, Mario brings that same relatinal, results-driven approach to clients— helping organizations build strategic partnership with city, state, and federal governments and turn vision into measurable outcomes.
